These are images of how Rooney Mara will look, in the now iconic role of Lisbeth Salander, in David Fincher's forthcoming adaptation of Steig Larrson's novel, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
These are not official stills for the film, but are from a photo shoot by W magazine, however, this is how Mara will be styled for the film.
Fincher drew inspiration for Mara's look, which differs from the European Gothic of Noomi Rapace, who first played Lisbeth Salander on screen, from Yo-Lander Vi$$er from South African hip-hop duo Die Antwoord.
Fincher's adaptation stars Rooney Mara, who he worked with on The Social Network, as Lisbeth Salander, Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist, Stellan Skarsgard as Martin Vanger, Christopher Plummer as Henrik Vanger, as well as Robin Wright and Joely Richardson.
This new adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo has been written by Steven Zaillian, and departs in key areas from the book. Specifically, the ending has been changed. However, the film is still set in Stockholm.
The film is set for release later this year, on 21st December 2011. For the full interview with Fincher, follow this link to W magazine.
